What to Pack for Your Stay

After a patient’s assessment, staff will conduct a check for dangerous items hidden on clothes or on the body and belongings. All items must be checked in by staff. If you are a patient, please give bags or items to staff when you arrive on the unit. If you are a visitor, do not give items directly to the patient. Visitors may not bring personal belongings (including purses or backpacks, cell phones, or any electronic devices) into the facility.

WHAT PATIENTS CAN BRING

Patients should pack the following items for their stay at our facility:

  • Three Casual Outfits, which can include jeans, shorts, and t-shirts (no crop tops, short shorts or clothing with sexually explicit, drug or alcohol themes, gang-related, or violent images)
  • A few pairs of shoes, including a pair of tennis/running sneakers and shower shoes. Shoes with no shoestrings are preferred, otherwise, laces will be removed
  • Three pairs of socks, three pairs of underwear, bras, two t-shirts, two long sleeve shirts,  and appropriate nightwear (not sheer or revealing)
  • A jacket or heavy sweater (without drawstrings)
  • Insurance cards and prescription cards
  • Contact information for your PCP, attorney, PO, or EAP
  • Medications: If a patient is taking a medication that we do not stock in our pharmacy, we will keep it in our medication room and obtain a physician’s order to dispense it.

WHAT NOT TO BRING

To maintain a secure environment for all patients, please do not bring the following items:

  • Glass items
  • Lighters or matches
  • Knives or sharp items of any kind
  • Needles or pins
  • Belts
  • Shoes with laces (or laces will be removed)
